Step 1: Create Awareness

Why?

Once you can see your own blindspots, you have the increased power to influence outcomes in your business and personal life.

Benefits:

You can make better decisions, communicated with confidence, clarity and intention without being attached to outcomes.

What is awareness?

In this example we are talking about self awareness. Which ultimately means being radically honest and real with yourself. As a CEO, founder or leader it's very easy to be aware of your business, but not as easy to cultivate self awareness. Self awareness for you as a leader is your ability to be aware of your own personal blindspots. It's noticing your own habits, good or bad that play into your every day life. Do you switch on immediately in the morning and head straight to your work emails? Become aware of that. Do you go to bed at night thinking about all the things you need to do tomorrow? Become aware of that. Are you on your phone whilst you're supposed to be having quality family / friends time? Become aware of that. Once you're aware you can ask yourself: Is this optimal? If the answer is no, you can change it. Without self awareness as a leader you could end up living on autopilot solving day to day business problems, and missing out on vital opportunities to create out the box strategies that prepare you and your business for the future. With self awareness, you can be at your optimal and so can your business. Leaving more time for you to be creating a bigger impact, and spending time with the people you value most in your life. Awareness allows you to create the time and space for balance AND success.

Awareness tools:

Meditation, journalling, coaching

How to create awareness:

1. Meditation: Try this 5 Minute Meditation to get you started Top tip: Download the Insight Timer app + challenge yourself to meditate for 5-20 mins every day for 1 week. Then try for 3 weeks. Then create it as an every day routine and method for you to tap into your self awareness. Watch how your mood is better... see if your team notice too! 2. Journalling: Try these prompts to get you started: - When do I feel at my best? - When am I most productive? - When do I feel like I am valuing my own time? - When do my family / friends feel valued? - When is my business at it's best?

3. Coaching:

The BEST thing about coaching is that you create accountability to ensure that you implement the changes you want to see in your life and business. If you're not being 100% honest with yourself, a coach is someone who will let you know without judgement so that you can commit to being the best version of you. A coach can share with you new tools to create balance in your life, whilst reaching your goals, without you having to rack your brain for inspiration. It's someone who is on your side, without you having to constantly speak with your friends and family about whatever is on your mind.
